Network Trainers
The network benefits from a group of Peninsula Network Education Trainers (PNETs). These roles aim to improve access to training and increase workforce capability across the peninsula.
Here, the current Network Trainers introduce themselves and their work:
Louise Christophers
I work in haematology and transfusion at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust. My journey to this post has been exciting and varied; in addition to working as a biomedical scientist, I have also been a secondary school chemistry teacher and lecturer of medical science at Truro College, which has enabled me to develop an in-depth understanding of teaching and training. I am looking forward to supporting in the training of current and future staff across the network and the opportunities and developments which the role will bring, to help enable staff to have the opportunities to reach their full potential.
Charlotte Jenkin
Hello everyone! I’m the Training Educator at University Hospitals Plymouth (UHP). I hold a BSc in Healthcare Science (Infection Science) from the University of Plymouth and an MSc in Molecular Biology. While my specialism at UHP is in Microbiology, I have a broad interest in molecular science across all disciplines.
Since stepping into this role, I’ve dedicated my time to supporting trusts across the network, and I truly believe we are building a collaborative and supportive community. With the rollout of the new registration and specialist portfolio versions, I’ve been working closely with national networks to ensure a smooth transition for all involved.
I love working across the peninsula and am passionate about helping staff grow and progress into BMS roles and beyond. I look forward to seeing our network continue to flourish!
Meabh Deeny
Hi, I'm Meabh (pronounced Mayv) and I joined in September 2024, having previously worked across two NHS trusts in Dorset in a similar role. My background is in Cellular Pathology and over the years I've been heavily involved in training and supporting staff with IBMS portfolios.
Whilst my base is University Hospitals Plymouth, I support colleagues across the Network undertaking IBMS portfolios up to Specialist level. I'm passionate about using digital technologies to enhance training and improve access to education.
As I know how hard it can be to complete these vocational qualifications alongside working full time, I'm here to provide CPD sessions, boost motivation, answer your questions, and help your progress swiftly through them.
