Our progress across the peninsula

Thank you to everyone across Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly who supports imaging services in the peninsula.

 

Here is a snapshot of our work and achievements to date:

1.5m imaging examinations, up 6% from the previous year.

1,323 staff working in imaging in the four trusts.

1,200 scans processed weekly through a shared AI CT chest tool for lung nodule detection.

£316k (est.) saved compared with using outsourcing companies by our pioneering Shared Insourced Reporting Programme.

£786k saved on PACS and RIS reprocurement, while adding cloud-based functionality to enhance image sharing and shared reporting.

£1.8m (est.) saved annually – compared with outsourcing - by Peninsula Radiology On-Call (PROC) with PenRAD operational management.

Over £6m funding secured for PACS/RIS, order comms and home reporting workstations.

2,250+ students engaged from 61 schools and colleges, and our career events.

52 radiography graduates engaged through our recruitment campaign.

11 modality forums and 3 regional groups, led by PenRAD, supporting and improving service delivery.

Other highlights...

  • Implemented a network view of demand and activity, with a data sharing agreement and a BI dashboard across all peninsula trusts.
  • Successful bid to the NHS AI Diagnostic Fund, led by our PenRAD AI Sub-Group.
  • Presented at three national events as a trailblazer for insourced reporting.
  • Formation of an NHS Consortium to bid for PET CT services.
    Coordinated an analysis and options appraisal for fragile Radiopharmacy services.
  • Production of a peninsula-wide asset register of major imaging equipment.
